GoGuardian Targets Suicide In Elementary Schools With New Software

Los Angeles-based GoGuardian, a developer of educaitonal software, says it is targeting the problem of suicide and self-harm in K-12 schools, with a new product called Beacon. According to GoGuardian, its new tool uses mahcine learning to identify and alert school staff about at-risk students, so they can get assistance they need. According to GoGuardian, the new software assesses the content students are creating and interacting with online via web searches, social media, chat, forums, email and online collaboration tools. Pricing on the new software was not announced. The company said the new tool was built in collaboration with experts including the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the American Association of Suicidology. GoGuardian is owned by private equity investor Sumeru Equity Partners; the company's other software, with works on Google Chromebooks, is used for filtering content and classroom management, as well as theft recovery.
