Broadcom Licenses MIFARE NFC Technology

Irvine-based Broadcom said today that it has licensed a new, near-field contact payment technology called MIFARE, which it says is used for contactless ticketing, transportation, and access applications. Broadcom said the licensing deal expands its NFC offerings, specifically in those areas.inancial details of the licensing deal were not announced. Broadcom says MIFARE is already widely deployed in the industry.
