PHY Wireless Spins Out Of Acorn Technologies

La Jolla-based PHY Wireless, a new company focused on wireless positioning technology, has spun out from Acorn Technologies, the companies said this morning. According to the two, PHY Wireless will be a pure play provider of high performance accurate positioning mobile solutions for carriers, chip makers, IoT module manufacturers, application service providers and end users. Financial details and structure of the spinout were not announced. PHY Wireless said its positioning and location intelligence products work on LTE and 5G networks, and according to the company for positioning to be device based with next to no network interaction.
