Tinder Now Testing Video Dating

Santa Monica-based dating app developer Tinder says it has begun testing out a new "Face to Face" chat feature which will allow its users to video chat one on one with others on the service. The new service--which has been in the works since at least May--will be available in the U.S., Brazil, South Korea, and elsewhere. In the U.S., the new feature is currently only available in a few states, including Colorado, Virginia, Illinois, and Georgia. The move comes as it continues to be extremely difficult, and perilous, to meet in person with others in public, given the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. The new video chat feature lets users chat after they've been matched--but also allows any party to turn off chats, and also bans potential harassment on the servie.
