AeroVironment Ties With Robotic Skies On UAS Maintenance

Simi Valley-based unmanned aircraft developer AeroVironment announced a deal this morning with Robotic Skies, a provider of maintenance, repair, and overhaul of unmanned aircraft systems. According to AeroVironment, Robotic Skies will provide field maintenance, inspection, and repair support for AeroVironment customers, particularly on AeroVironment's new all-electric VAPOR 55 helicopter unmanned aircraft system. Financial details of the deal were not announced. AeroVironment says its VAPOR helicopter UAS provides 60 minutes of cruise endurance and up to 10 pounds of payload capacity, and includes a number of integrated sensors and third-party payloads including gimbaled EO/IR, survey grade PPK mapping, LiDAR and hyperspectral sensors. The company offers up its UAS for the defense, commercial, and industrial market.
