Teledyne Buys MEMS Foundry Micralyne

Thousand Oaks-based Teledyne Technologies announced this morning that it has acquired Canadian MEMs foundry Micralyne. Financial terms of the acquisition were not annoucned. Micralyne was based in Edmonton, Alberta, and is a foundry that produces Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) devices, including microfluidic technoogy for biotech applications. Teledyne said that Micralyne also has capabilities in non-silicon-based MEMS (e.g. gold, polymers) often required for human body compatibility. The company said the acquisition will help complement its existing manufacturing capability and expertise. Teledyne has an existing MEMS foudnry in Quebec, which is part of its Teledyne DALSA unit.
