WebPurify Adds Tool To Detect Profanity In Images, Memes

Irvine-based content moderation software developer WebPurify says it has enhanced its tools with a new tool, which allows its users to automatically detect text in memes and other images in blogs, forums, social media apps, children's sites, in-game chats, and more. According to the company, its new Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Profanity Filter Service is aimed at combating offensive user generated content in real time, through automated, real-time filtering. The company says its new tool was developed and trained on extracting text from actual user generated content, and is more effective than most OCR solutions, which are really designed from extracting text from documents. Pricing on the new tool, which is now in limited beta, was not announced. The company's tools are available via an application programming interface (API).
