Slingshot Aerospace Lands $2M For Space Simulation Tool

El Segundo, California- and Austin, Texas-based Slingshot Aerospace said this morning that it has received $2M in funding to go towards developing of a new, space training simulation tool for the U.S. Space Force. According to the company, $1M in the funding came via a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase 2 contract from the United States Space Force, and the other $1M came from venture capital investment firm ATX Venture Partners. As part of the announcement, the company said it has linked up with Hollywood visualiation studio The Third Floor--which was behind the visual effects Gravity, The Martian, and The Mandalorian--to develop a space visualization solutions that is both interactive and physics-based. The simulation apparently will go towards help in training concepts like astrodynamics, the effects of various items in orbit, and how spacecrafts maneuver among other objects in space.
