Tech Crawl Redux: Silicon Beach Tour Hits Venice

What do you get when you combine beer and startups? In more proof that local techies can't get enough of hanging out with the multitude of startups cropping up on "Silicon Beach" -- mostly Santa Monica and the westside of Los Angeles -- local event organizer TechZulu said today that it is launching a second edition of its Tech Crawl event on August 30th. The group launched its inaugural event--which combines the idea of a "bar crawl" with tours of local technology startups and accelerators--in July, touring such companies as ParkMe, Coloft, Goodreads, CallFire, and LaunchpadLA. This time, the group says it so far will be visiting accelerator Amplify, mobile messaging firm Mogreet, and 2 Billion Monkeys, and other local companies in the Venice Beach area, with more startups to come. The event is just one of a surge in events--many associated with local accelerators--catering to entrepreneurs and startups along Silicon Beach, which has shown up recently in the area.
