Microsoft in late June announced to have acquired social network for enterprises Yammer at $ 1.2 billion. But the deal  has been fully completed today.

According to the  Jared Spataro Senior Director, Office Division, Microsoft in a blog post the firm had met all the requirements regarding the acquisition.

He says,” all closing conditions for Microsoft’s acquisition of Yammer have been met, and the deal is completed”.

Spataro says the Yammer team will be part of the Microsoft Office Division and that Microsoft was more than eager to have the service among its own offerings.

Spataro says, “We couldn’t be more pleased to welcome the Yammer team to the Microsoft Office Division. We’re excited about the road ahead. We look forward to accelerating the adoption of Yammer’s standalone service, and enhancing the social capabilities in Microsoft’s communication and collaboration offerings”.

Yammer on its blog says,”We’re pleased to announce that Yammer is now part of Microsoft’s Office Division. We are thrilled to start this new chapter and join forces with Microsoft to massively accelerate our vision to change the way work gets done with software that is built for the enterprise and loved by users”.

Yammer’s goal was to change the way companies operate just as social media did to individuals. They set out to give companies social media use as an upper hand for business success.

The private social network for companies will now be under the Microsoft Office Division and though Microsoft has not released much about their integration, Yammer will likely be used to make Microsoft Office social.

Yammer was launched in 2008 and raised $142 million then. It’s reported to have nearly 5 million users.
