cloudvirga Raises $15M More For Mortgage Automation Tools

Irvine-based Cloudvirga , a developer of automated mortgage lending software, announced this morning that it has raised $15M more in a Series B funding. The funding was led by Incenter, a Blackstone Group portfolio company. The company said the funding goes to scale its technology and product offerings. The company has now raised $22.5M in total. Cloudvirga was founded by Bill Dallas, Kyle Kamrooz and Mark Attaway.

Fountain Valley-based HyperX , the divisio of Kingston Technology Company which focuses on the high performance gaming market, announced a new DDR4 memory product today called the HyperX FURY. Intel Combines Global AI Work Under Former Nervana Systems CEO

Roughly seven months after Intel (NASDAQ: INTC ) acquired San Diego-based Nervana Systems, the chipmaker is consolidating its portfolio of artificial intelligence businesses in one group, headed by former Nervana CEO Naveen Rao. Rao (pictured above right) will report directly to Intel CEO Brian Krzanich, spokesman Daniel Francisco said today. Rao plans to remain in San Diego, according to a spokeswoman for Intel Nervana.

Qualcomm Sets New CTO

San Diego-based Qualcomm announced today that it Dr. James H. Thompson, the company's Executive Vice President of Engineering at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., has been named its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Current CTO Matt Grob, who also serves as EVP Qualcomm Technologies, will become Executive Vice President of Technology, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. Thompson has led Qualcomm Technologies' engineering efforts since 2004. The reason for the executive shuffle was not given by Qualcomm.

Blizzard Entertainment Expands Into Collectibles

Irvine-based videogame maker Blizzard Entertainment , the company behind such games as World of Warcraft and Overwatch, has expanded into the physical collectibles market, saying it will start offering up "high end" collectibles to its players. Blizzard said its Blizzard Collectibles will offer up a line of premium statues, replicas, and artwork designed and produced directly by Blizzard. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. MINDBODY said that Lymber's software--which is built on MINDBODY's API--will add a dynamic pricing engine to its platform.

San Diego biopharmaceuticals spinout targeting treatments for pre-cancerous lesions caused by human papilloma virus (HPV) infection, said it has raised $22M in a Series C funding. The funding was led by Brace Pharma Capital, an also included NS Investment, Osage University Partners and Alexandria Venture Investments, plus Canaan Partners and Sofinnova Ventures. Vinzenz Ploerer of Brace Pharma has joined the company's board with the new funding.

Hulu Links With Telemundo, Sony For Spanish Language Content

Santa Monica-based streaming television provider Hulu said this morning that it has reached new multi-year agreements with both Telemundo and Sony Pictures Television , to add Spanish language programming to the service. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Hulu said the deal includes hundreds of episodes of popular telenovelas, films, and Spanish language programming from Telemundo, and a selection of telenovelas and teleseries from Sony Pictures Television.
