Internet giant Google said Friday that it will be shutting down web analytics service Urchin , the onetime San Diego startup which had been acquired by Google in April of 2005.

Westlake Village-based web advertising firm ValueClick said late Monday that it has divested its Web Clients promotional lead generation business. ValueClick said the move is part of a strategy to grow its core online marketing services and technology. ValueClick acquired its Web Clients business in 2005 for approximately $141M.

Stickam , the live video streaming service, announced on its web site Thursday that it would be shutting down its services, effective 11:59PM PST. Stickam had been founded in 2005. Reason for the shutdown was not disclosed. Last August, the company had announced a VIP membership program, which charged users $39.99

Steve Jillings has a long track record of running successful startups in Southern California, ranging from such companies as FrontBridge Technologies (sold to Microsoft in 2005 for over $200M) and Vantage Media (acquired in 2007). Telesign provides authentication services for the largest web companies in the world.

Phonevite , a startup which operates a service that allows groups such as schools and clubs to make mass phone calls to many people at once, has quietly relocated to Los Angeles from Silicon Valley, according to the firm's CEO and co-founder, John Nahm. Both Nahm and Kim were at voice-over-IP firm Dialpad, which was acquired by Yahoo in 2005.

That runs either in the enterprise, or outside the enterprise at a service provider, basically replicating what Amazon does in a private or private implementation for a service provider.

They sign up through a web portal, online, and they create a resource pool. I am a big fan of not getting locked in, looking at what services and vendors are there, and going multi-cloud when you can. For enterprises, some of who are spending millions in cloud spend, it's pretty compelling to look at this.

What we've done, is for authentication, we have created a way to have a unique password to give you access to a web site very time. We bought the assets from Vidoop, which was an LLC that was first established in late 2005 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. For people, alphanumeric strings are not a natural thing to remember, but images are.

Most of these bots don’t obey robots.txt , that means you can’t even block them applying Web standards ( learn how to block rogue bots ). Their developers are just too fucking lazy to understand such protocols that every respected service on the Web (search engines…) obeys.
