IPO Market Surpasses 2008, 2009, According to Report

A new report today released by PwC finds that the market for initial public offerings (IPOs) has jumped significantly in 2010, with volumes exceeding both 2008 and 2009 levels. PwC tallied up 154 IPOs completed this year so far, raising $37.5 billion for companies, which is 123 percent increase in volume and a 49 percent increase in volume compared with numbers last year.

California's technology exports fell in 2009, dropping by $8.0 billion from 2008 to 2009, according to a report released this week. as a whole exported $188 billion in high tech goods in 2009, according to the report. According to the Trade in the Cyberstates 2010 report released by the TechAmerica Foundation, however, California still had the most number of high-tech exports of any state--$41.3M.

Venture Exits Drop in 2009, But See Q4 Uptick

A newly released report by Dow Jones VentureSource today finds that 2009, venture-liquidity was down 34 percent in 2009, to $17.1 billion in exits in 2008. Santa Monica-based Transpera, a venture-backed provider of mobile phone video advertising, said Monday that the firm has scored a win with a new mobile video ad campaign from Ford Motor Co. Those sites include the AP's Mobile news Network and CBS Mobile News. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed.

YouMail Inks Deal With Montana Wireless Firm

YouMail said SmartCall will launch its voice and data services at the first quarter of 2009. Aliso Viejo-based YouMail has inked a relationship with a Montana-based wireless firm, SmartCall LLC, the firm disclosed Thursday. According to YouMail, SmartCall, which runs Ismart Mobile, a wireless carrier in Bozeman, Montana, will provide its customers with free cell phone voicemail services based on YouMail.

RealD Inks Digital Cinema Deal

RealD said that the 3D capabilities will be available on all new Doremi servers beginning in March of 2009, with retrofits of existing installations at the same time. Los Angeles-based 3D technology provider RealD has inked a deal with a digital cinema server firm, the company said Wednesday. RealD said that Doremi Cinema LLC will integrate the firm's 3D EQ technology into Doremi's digital cinema servers. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed.

magnify360 Gets Win With Virtual World

The firms said that the virtual world is set for launch in winter of 2009. Los Angeles-based magnify360, a provider of software for personalizing and optimizing web content, has scored a win with virtual world provider ICYou. According to ICYou, it will use magnify360 to personalize the shopping experience for Interactive City, a virtual world run by ICYou. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed by the companies.

RealD Inks Deal With LEGOLAND

The technology is expected to roll out in 2009. Beverly Hills-based RealD, a developer of 3D projection technology for the movie industry, said today that it has inked an agreement with LEGOLAND California for a new feature. RealD said the agreement calls for LEGOLAND to present presentations at the park's Spellbreaker 4D and Lego Racers 4D attractions, powered by RealdD's PRO technology.

NHN Hires CEO, Looks To Expand

The firm said it plans on adding new staff and products as part of a growth plan for 2009 Irvine-based online video game publisher NHN USA, the North American subsidiary of Korean Internet firm NHN, said Monday that it has hired a new CEO and is looking to expand at its Irvine location. E-Commerce Spendings Grows 13 Percent In Q3, Says Report

E-commerce spending has been rising since Q4 of 2009, after stalling out over issues with the economy in 2008 and early 2009. The latest numbers out of comScore , which measures e-commerce spending and Internet traffic, find that U.S. retail e-commerce spending rose 13 percent, year-over-year, to $36.3 billion in Q3 of 2011. comScore said the growth is the eighth, consecutive quarter of positive, year-over-year growth for the industry.
