The mess really comes from a developer who was willing to get started on a product that was not fully thought out. I always take a very different approach in early conversations.

Los Angeles-based online publisher Break Media said today that the firm has more than tripled its branded content projects this year, and expects that it will grow 18 percent this year, despite the economy. Break, which operates a series of web sites focused on content for the young male demographic, said that it had what the company calls its "best revenue month" in the company's history in August, and is expecting revenue growth this year.

HowSimple Launches Content Viewer

Huntington Beach-based HowSimple has launched the firm's "desktop viewer" at DEMO in Palm Desert, saying that it has created software which allows users to browse, navigate, and search the web in a multiple-panel, desktop user interface. The firm's software, which runs on Windows XP or Vista, is aimed at helping users navigate and search web sites, and offers "panels" and "thumbnails" to navigate multiple web sites on a single screen.

Mzima Selected For NetDNA's Content Delivery Network

Santa Barbara-based RightScale , a developer of cloud computing software, has linked with a London developer of enterprise content management software, Alfresco Software, the two said this week. Pasadena-based Big Stage Entertainment , the startup which uses photos to create animated, 3-D facial avatars of users, has added new content from a game from GGL Global Gaming. Big Stage told its users yesterday that they could now insert their avatars into content from Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, a video game published by Funcom. The new content deal also came in conjunction with new features which allow users to add their own, custom backgrounds into BigStage's site.
