Study Tallies High Tech Employment In Region


A recently released study by TechAmerica, an advocacy group for the high tech industry, finds that Los Angeles ranks sixth among the top 60 cities in the United States for high tech employment. A study released Friday by the Center for the Digital Future, at the USC Annenberg School of Communications, finds that zero percent of Twitter users polled in the study would pay for Twitter. According to the study, it found that 49 percent of Internet users have used micro-blogging services like Twitter, but found that there was zero percent of users polled were willing to pay for such a service directly. Pasadena-based eHarmony , the online dating site, said today that it has run a study which determined that on average, there are 542 people married every day in the U.S. The study was conducted by Harris Interactive for eHarmony. eHarmony said that for the study period, there were more than 148,311 marriages due to the site's effort, or approximately 4.77

Five Area Firms Get DOE Funds for Concentrating Solar Power Research


According to DOE Secretary Steven Chu, it has selected thirteen award winners in Concentrating Solar Power Systems Studies, and Concentrating Solar Power Component Feasibility Studies. Five, Southern California firms are among companies who are splitting up $62M in government funding for the research, development, and demonstration of concentrating solar power systems, according to an announcement by the U.S. Department of Energy.
