Tech Coast Angels Backed 53 Companies In 2018, $10.8M Invested

The Tech Coast Angels , the largest organized angel investment group both in Southern California as well as across the venture ecosystem, says it backed a total of 53 companies in all of 2018, putting in a total of $10.8M The group says it had 411 members at the end of 2018, which is an "all-time high" for the angel investment group.

Paso Robles-based SensibleIoT, a software developer which develops Internet-of-Things (IoT) software, has been acquired by Montrose Environmental Group, an environmental services company with more than 2,000 employees. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. SensibleIoT was founded in 2018 by Charles Beach.

Clearlake Capital Sells Provation

Santa Monica-based private equity investor Clearlake Capital says that it has sold one of its portfolio companies, Provation, which provides software to the healthcare industry. Clearlake said it investedin Provation in March of 2018, after a carve-out acquisition from Wolters Kluwer.

Medical device maker ResMed has agreed to acquire Minnesota-based MatrixCare, which makes software for long-term care providers, for $750 million. San Diego’s ResMed (NYSE: ticker[[RMD]]) announced its intention to buy the privately held tech company on Monday.
