AllGear Digital Raises $40M

Los Angeles-based AllGear Digital--which owns media sites GearJunkie, Switchback Travel, Bikerumor, and others--said on Thursday that it has raised $40M in a funding round. The funding was led by Bardin Hill Investment Partners. The company--run by co-founder and CEO Eric Phung--was previously known as Lola Digital Media. The company said the new funding will go to "organic growth initiatives" and to bring on additional publishers.

Amgen Acquires Teneobio For $900M

Thousand Oaks-based Amgen said on Tuesday that it will pay $900M for Teneobio, a biopharmaceuticals company which is developing treatments for patients with cancer. According to Amgen, the all cash $900M deal also includes future contingent milestone payments worth up to an additional $1.6 billion in cash. Teneobio has a variety of early-stage oncology assets, including a Phase I bispecific antibody for patients with advanced prostate cancer, according to Amgen.

Aristea Snags $63M In Series B

San Diego-based immunology startup Aristea Therapeutics says it has raised $63M in a Series B financing round, which was led by Fidelity Management & Research Company, LLC, along with Novo Holdings A/S, plus Arena Pharmaceuticals and funds managed by Tekla Capital Management, LLC. Aristea is a spinout of AstraZeneca, and is focused on clinical development of novel immunotherapy drugs for the treatment of orphan diseases.

Robotaxi Company Pony.ai Gets Permits To Test Vehicles In Irvine

Pony.ai, a Chinese company developing driverless "robo-taxi" vehicles, has gained permission from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to test its vehicles on public roads in Irvine, along with Fremont and Milpitas. According to the DMV, the permit will allow the company to test six autonomous vehicles without a driver behind the wheel on specified streets within Fremont (Alameda County), Milpitas (Santa Clara County) and Irvine (Orange County).

Targus Acquires Sanho

Anaheim-based laptop and technology accessory maker Targus has acquired Sanho, the maker of the Hyper brand of IT and mobile accessories, the company said on Tuesday. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. according to Targus, the acquisition will help it diversify its accessory portfolio geared towards Apple and PC consumers. Sanho's products are mostly aimed at the Apple market.

Hawthorne-based SpaceX confirmed a $850M fundraising in a regulatory filing on Tuesday, in an equity funding round which included 69 investors. The fundraising had been rumored to have been in process for the last month or so. The filing said the effort started on February 16th. The round reportedly values the company at $74 billion.
