Altadena, California-based Datum Security , a developer of third party risk management and cyber threat assessment services, has been acquired by New Jersey-based Prevalent , the two companies announced on Tuesday. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. Prevalent said the acquisition will help small and medium-sized business with third party risk validation. Rexter Finds Funding To Help Professionals Manage Relationships

A new, Altadena-based startup, Rexter , has scored some funding to help it build its software algorithms and tools to help manage a user's professional relationships. The company--co-founded by Andy Wilson (Momentum Venture Partners, Yahoo) and John Slade (Yahoo)--apparently recently raised a round which included Siemer Ventures. Other investors in the company have not been announced.

Perfect Market Unveils New Content Monetization Tool

Altadena-based Perfect Market , the Idealab startup which develops software which helps traditional publishers monetize their archival and current content, said today that it has unveiled a new tool it is calling The Vault. According to the firm, which is run by Julie Schoenfeld, the new tool helps newsrooms and editors to determine the biggest demand for articles, and help publishers monetize their content based on that demand. Pricing on the new tool was not released.

TripTrotting Scores Funding

Altadena-based TripTrotting , an online community that helps world travelers find hosts, has scored a Series A round of funding, according to sources close to the firm. The funding came from Idealab's New Ventures Group. Details on the funding, and size, have not yet been announced by the startup. The firm is headed by Aigerim Duiseneyeva, and its advisers include Ken Hayes, former President at Nami Media and member of the Pasadena Angels.

Perfect Market Names Chief Strategy Officer

Altadena-based Perfect Market , which is backed by Idealab, said this morning that it has hired on Robertson Barrett as Chief Strategy Officer at the company. Barrett joins from Tribune Interactive, where he was Executive Vice President heading up latimes.com, chicagotribute.com, baltimoresun.com, and the newspaper publisher's other online properties. He has also served at The FeedRoom, and was also a journalist at the News & Observer of Raleigh, North Carolina.
