Los Angeles-based startup The Sugar Lab , which was developing technology to print edible, 3D designs with sugar, has been acquired by 3D Systems. According to 3D Systems, it will integrate The Sugar Lab''s 3D printing tecnhique into its platforms. The Sugar Lab was founded by Kyle and Liz von Hasseln, and was based in SilverLake.

Los Angeles based startup incubator/studio Science --which is behind such local startups as Dollar Shave Club and DogVacay--has quietly raised $20M in a debt financing round, according to the companies. According to Fortune, the funding came from private equity investor SilverLake Waterman.
