Starting a company is HARD – in so many ways. I read several years ago, that the average startup restaurant lasts only about a year. Restaurant startups would not top my list. Census Bureau reports that 400,000 new businesses are started every year in the USA, but 470,000 are dying. And risky too. What does THAT mean?

The programs--which does not charge fees or take equity from companies in its program--says it is seeking nine early stage startups to take part in its eight-week program, designed to help early stage startups.

The Tech Coast Angels says it has launched a new, annual fund, and is continuing to invest--despite the pandemic. The angel group, the largest in the nation, said it invested over $19M in 2019, in part due to a similar fund created by its San Diego chapter, the TCA-San Diego, last year.

I certainly agree that starting a business is fraught with risk, and none of us get it all right the first time.

500 Startups is scrapping its cohort model for accelerating companies and moving to a rolling admissions process, the accelerator said during its latest demo day. The move to a rolling admissions mirrors an approach taken by other accelerator programs including MuckerLab , the wildly successful Los Angeles-based early stage program.
