Burbank-based Steamboat Ventures , the venture capital arm of the Walt Disney Company, has backed Woodman Labs the parent firm of sports camera maker GoPro. GoPro recently acquired San Diego-based Cineform , a developer of video compression technology. Financial details of the investment were not disclosed.

GoPro , the maker of wearable, action sports cameras, which has operations in San Diego, has scored a strategic investment which includes the involvement of Burbank Steamboat Ventures , GoPro said today. GoPro also has operations in San Diego, and also recently acquired San Diego's Cineform.
