MRV Names New Division President

Chatsworth-based MRV Communications announced this morning that it has named Barry R. Gorsun was most recently managing partner at BayState Capital, an investment firm, and also previously served at Summa Four, a firm he headed up and eventually sold to Cisco Systems in 1998.

Pentadyne Gains $22M

Chatsworth-based Pentadyne Power said Monday that it has raised $22M in a financing round. The firm, which develops flywheel energy storage systems, said the funding will go to fuel expansion of the firm into new markets. Pentadyne's flywheel systems are used for large-scale, uninterruptible power supplies.

DoE Selects Two SoCal Firms For Solar Program

According to NREL, it is investing $6 million under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, as part of a new PV Technology Pre-Incubator Award. The two local firms are International Solar Electric Technology , which is based in Chatsworth, and TiSol , which is based in Pasadena.
