SoCalGas Deployes Bloom Energy Microgrids In LA

According to the company, it has begun powering two of its largest Los Angeles area facilities with Bloom Energy solid oxide fuel cells. Fuel cells are used to take natural gas to create electricity; those systems are being used by companies to generate on-site power from their natural gas systems, instead of relying on the electric grid.

The firm said that Brian Wong, President and CEO of Enervate, a developer of rechargeable energy storage technology, has joined the company's board. Wong also has served at D2Audio, Primarion, and Xerox.

According to the company, the new office will provide sales and marketing, manufacturing and R&D support to its customers in China.
