Quality of Events Of course, the bigger issue with events is finding the ones where you will have a really good opportunity to network with interesting people. They put on great events. VentureNet – Great annual event by the Technology Council. I guess I should confess that I used to go to a lot more networking events.

Choosing a Programming Language and Framework for Your Startup

Of course, if you are developing native mobile apps or building something on top of a particular code base or you need to integrate tightly with something, all of those factors may push you directly towards a particular language and framework. Of course, I'm not sure that anyone chooses Java alone. This may push you in that direction.

Linux (instead of UNIX), Apache (web server software), MySQL (instead of Oracle) and PHP. Of course there were variants – we preferred PostGres to MySQL and many people used other programming languages than PHP. It was driven by the introduction of open-source software, most notably what was called the LAMP stack.
