Los Angeles is using ride-hailing startup Via to shuttle people to public transit

Los Angeles is partnering with on-demand shuttle-based service Via as part of a pilot program that will give people rides to three busy public transit stations. Under the pilot program, Via will provide on-demand rides to and from the Compton, El Monte and North Hollywood stations.

We're doing our development in El Monte, and we think we'll be operational by the beginning of next year, and full scale by the end of 2010, with product launch in 2011. We identified several consumer applications, which were based on a large area, had a low demand for electricity, and where we could be competitive.
