Tribogenics Launches Handheld Metal Identification Device

Los Angeles-based Tribogenics , the UCLA spinout which is developing hand held X-ray devices, has rolled out its first product, a handheld device for analyzing metal alloys. The company said the device can be used for positive materials identification (PMI), scrap metal recycling, quality assurance and quality control.

Los Angeles-based Tribogenics , which is developing handheld, X-ray technology, has scored a strategic investment from Nikon , via its subsidiary, Nikon Americas Inc. Tribogenics is a spinout of technology originally developed at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Size of the investment was not announced.
