HemaCare Moves To Larger Headquarters In Northridge


HemaCare, a supplier of human-derived biological products and services for biomedical research, drug discovery, and cellular therapy process development, has moved its global headquarters to Northridge, in a move that the company says more than doubles its donor collection capacity and on-site cell processing capabilities. The company, which was previously based in Van Nuys, says its new facility is at the 44-acre Harman Campus.

Electro Rent Buys Microlease


Van Nuys-based Electro Rent , which provides rental and leasing of test and measurement equipment, said Friday that it has completed its acquisition of Microlease from Lloyds Development Capital. Financial details of that acquisition were not announced. Electro Rent is owned by private equity investor Platinum Equity, which bought the company in August of last year. Van Nuys-based Sentry Control Systems , which distributes the ubiquitous electronic parking control systems you find in parking garages, has been acquired by parking technology developer SKIDATA. Financial details of the buy were not disclosed. The two companies said they have been working together since 2000. SKIDATA is based in Austria. JetPack Aviation Links With Georgia Tech


Van Nuys-based JetPack Aviation , a developer of commercially available "jet packs" for sending people into the air, said today that it has signed an agreement with Georgia Tech Research Institute. According to the company, the two will merge JetPack's technology with a similar subsystem bilt by Georgia Tech, to address military applications. JetPack did not details terms of the agreement with Georgia Tech, but said the two will jointly solicit R&D funding from the U.S.

Helinet Aviation Buys Shotover, Gets Funding


Helinet , a provider of flight services to the entertainment, media, and other industries which is based in Van Nuys, said Thursday that it has acquired Shotover Camera Systems , a developer of a gyro-stablized, camera systems used for shooting aerial footage in Ultra High Definition.

Van Nuys-based Zoom Focus Eyewear , the developer of eyeglasses which can replace the need for progressive and bi-focal eyeglasses, said this week that it has renamed itself Superfocus LLC. Superfocus develops eyeglasses which instantly change and adjust to what a user is looking at. Superfocus has developed technology which uses a flexible lens which can dynamically change focus to help users view objects at different focal lengths.
