For Bill Gross, the founder of Idealab and brains behind the excursion, the unveiling was simply the latest in a string of demonstrations for new technologies commercialized by his nearly three-decade old startup company incubator.

Hyundai Launching New Car Sharing Business In LA

Hyundai is getting set to launch a new, car-sharing service in Los Angeles, called Mocean Carshare , the company said this week, ahead of the Los Angeles Auto Show. According to Hyundai, its new venture, MoceanLab , will initially launch with 20, plug-in-hybrid vehicles, with plans to eventually include 300 electric vehicles in its fleet, according to the auto maker.

Audi’s next all-electric vehicle, the e-tron Sportback, is a “coupé” SUV

Audi revealed Tuesday evening in Los Angeles the e-tron Sportback as the German automaker begins to chip away at its plan to launch more than 30 electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids by 2025. The e-tron Sportback reveal ahead of the LA Auto Show follows the launch earlier this year of Audi’s first all-electric vehicle, the 2019 e-tron. Audi has delivered 18,500 of its all-electric e-tron SUVs globally since March 2019 when the vehicle first came to market.

Peter Adderton , the founder of Boost Mobile , the prepaid cell phone provider now owned by Sprint , is looking to buy back the company for up to $2 billion, according to reports. Adderton--a Southern California entrepreneur who most recently was founder of local 360-degree video camera maker 360fly , which was backed by L Catterton, Hydra Ventures, and Qualcomm Ventures, founded Boost Mobile way back in 2000 when Adderton was in Australia.

SpaceX, Tyvak Nano-Satellite Selected For NASA Lunar Landing Effort

Two, Southern California companies--Hawthorne-based SpaceX and Irvine-based Tyvak Nano-Satellite Systems , have both been selected as part of a NASA program aimed at landing payloads to the Moon. According to NASA, the two are part of five companies which will take part in NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS), which will make them eligible to bid on proposals to provide deliveries to the surface of the moon.
