Doorbell cameras built by Los Angeles-based Ring, now part of Amazon, were used in a spree of swatting attacks, where two men placed hoax calls to police departments--and used compromised, Ring cameras to taunt police. According to reports, the swatting occurred the week of November 7, 2020, after two alleged swatters compromised the Yahoo Mail accounts of the owners of 12 Ring cameras.
