Report: Snap Registered 418,000 New Voters In Just Two Weeks

An effort to register new voters via Snapchat has resulted in 418,000 new voters, according to numbers given by Venice, California-based Snap to the New York Times. Snap is one of a number of companies -- including such local companies as Jam City and Mitu -- who have been pushing "get out the vote" voter registration efforts in their apps and services.

Virgin Orbit Shows Off Launcher One, Cosmic Girl

Virgin Orbit , the space launch startup which is backed by Sir Richard Brason, showed off its small satellite launch vehicle, the LauncherOne today, posting images of the launch vehicle in Long Beach Airport being mated with its Cosmic Girl launch vehicle--a converted 747. Virgin Orbit is attaching the LauncherOne rocket on the underside of the Cosmic Girl, which will take the launch vehicle high into the atmosphere before release into orbit.

Redland-based geographical information systems (GIS) software maker Esri announced this morning that it has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU), with the national statistics agency for the United Arab Emirates. According to Esri, the MOU came with the UAE's Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority (FCSA). Size of the customer win were not announced.
