Starlink Launch Triggers Alarm Among Astronomers As Satellites Mar Views

The successful launch of 60 "Starlink" satellites last month by Hawthorne-based SpaceX has triggered concern among astronomers and others, after it has become apparent that the satellites are highly visible, and likely to obscure a view of the skies. Although SpaceX has assured astronomers and others that as its Starlink satellites are deployed they will be less visible, at the moment, the highly visible trail of those Starlink satellites are often brighter than the stars.

Irvine-based CalAmp , which develops asset tracking and related hardware and software, has named two new board members, the company announced this morning. According to the company, it has added Scott Arnold and Jason Cohenour to its board, with longtime board member Kimberly Alexy stepping down. Arnold is President of Shutterfly Enterprise, and also has served as president and CEO at AppSense, and a partner at McKinsey.
