MAKE IT IN LA Aims To Bridge Entrepreneurs, Manufacturers

A new effort, led by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and headed up by startup evangelist Krisztina 'Z' Holly, is looking to bridge the gap between entrepreneurs and manufacturers in LA. The new MAKE IT IN LA effort recently published a study , which found that manufacturing has more employment in LA than the creative industry; and that there is excess capacity in Los Angeles for manufacturing, with lots of potential to tie that manufacturing expertise with LA's new startup culture.

Rincon Backs Keen IO In New Round

Santa Barbara-based venture investor Rincon Ventures has backed portfolio company Keen IO , in a followup investment in that company's Series B. Keen IO, which is based in San Francisco, said it raised $14.7M in a funding round from Pelion Ventures, along with Sequoia Capital, Rincon Venture Partners, Amplify Partners, Rothenberg Ventures, Techstars, 500 Startups, Heavybit and Galvanize Ventures.

Chrome River Wins Sabre

Los Angeles-based invoice and expense management software provider Chrome River announced today that travel giant Sabre has selected the company's software for global deployment. According to Chrome River, Sabre will deploy Chrome River's expense and invoice processing software to almost 10,000 employees across 29 countries. Financial impact of the win was not announced.

According to Esri, it has partnered with the National Geographic Society, on tools that help U.S. communities map out open space, wildlife habitats, parks, and other natural areas, to help them identify, protect, and connect those spaces.
