Getaround Expands Car Sharing Service To LA

Getaround , the developer of a peer-to-peer car sharing service, said it has officially launched in the greater Los Angeles area. Getaround said that car owners in LA can make their automobiles available to others. The San Francisco company's service works through something called Getaround Connect, technology which allows renters to locate and unlock a car using an iOS or Android smartphone app.

Qmerit Connects With $11.75M For Supply Chain Software

Irvine-based Qmerit , which develops cloud-based, supply chain software, has raised $11.75M in a first funding round, Qmerit said this week. The funding was led by Strandview Capital, and also included Schneider Electric and innogy Ventures, the venture capiatl arm of German energy company innogy SE. As part of the funding, Strandview's Kevin Covert, and Schneider Electric's Heriberto Diarte both join the company's board.

Viasat Splits With Eutelsat On Satellite, Still Hopes To Launch In Europe

Carlsbad-based satellite network operator Viasat said today that it has discontinued plans to launch its ViaSat-3 satellite with European satellite company Eutelsat, but still plans to launch its ViaSat-3 satellite in Europe. According to Viasat, Eutelsat has decided to "pursue a local market alternative" and will no longer be sharing efforts on launching ViaSat's satellite over Europe.
