San Diego-based Applied Data Finance , a lender which uses data science and machine learning to issue unsecured personal loans, has raised $14.2M in a funding round, the company said Thursday. According to the company, the capital raise was led by its existing investors. Names of those investors were not announced. Applied Data Finance said the funding came through a convertible note funding.

Shred Scores $4M For Digital Workouts

Los Angeles-based Shred , a new startup offering up online, digital workouts, has raised $4M in a funding round, the company said on Thursday. Names of the investors in the company were not announced, although Shred said it came from "Silicon Valley investors and celebrities", and include angel investor Eduardo Vivas. Shred says it has created an online service focused on social workouts, which lets consumers work out with their friends.
