San Diego-based GroundMetrics , a startup that develops electromagnetic oil and gas surveying technology, has raised nearly $7.5M in a funding round, with a target of $8.45M, according to a regulatory filing from the firm. According to the filing, approximately $6.9M of the funding was related to conversion of debt into shares of capital stock. Details on the funding have not yet been announced.

Santa Ana-based SuperMoney , a startup which lets users evaluate loans and financial services, has just reached $2 billion in loan requests, according to the company. SuperMoney, led by founder and CEO Miron Lulic, says it just reached $2 billion in loan requests through its multi-lender marketplace. SuperMoney's online site provides content about everything from mortgages to credit cards, to debt and refinancing.

Brea-based electronics manufacturer TP Link has abandoned plans to support Apple HomeKit it its Kasa Smart Plug Mini, its "smart plug" which can turn on-and-off outlets in your home remotely. The change in plans was reported by a user on Reddit , who discovered the change in a company support FAQ. Details on the change in plans have not been announced by TP-Link.

Irvine-based analog semiconductor developer Skyworks has scored a design win with Nordic Semiconductor , a developer of wireless communications products, the company announced this morning. Skyworks said its family of fully-integrated front-ends, plus their multi-protocol system-on-chip (SoC) for Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) and Bluetooth 5 are being used by Nordic for its internet-of-things (IoT) devices.

Los Angeles-based BioVie , a biotech company developing treatments for liver cirrhosis, is looking to a public offering on the NASDAQ Capital Market, saying that it is offering up 1,311,189 shares of its stock on the NASDAQ Capital Market as BIVI. The company previously traded over-the-counter (OTC). The company's offering is being managed by ThinkEquity.

Los Angeles-based Ring , the developer of Internet-connected doorbells and security cameras, reportedly told people to report "suspicious activity" in their neighborhood in exchange for free "swag bags", according to Motherboard. Motherboard--citing an internal company slide presentation from Ring--said people were encouraged to report on their neighbors in exchange for discount codes and "swag" from Ring, after creating a new "Digital Neighborhood Watch" program.
