Shoreline Biosciences Names Chief Business Officer

San Diego-based biotechnology company Shoreline Biosciences said this morning that it has named Scott Forrest, Ph.D., as its Chief Business Officer. Forrest was most recently Chief Financial Officer at Autobahn Therapeutics, and also served at Inception Therapeutics, the Versant Ventures company building biotech companies. He also previously served at such companies at Lycia Therapeutics, Pipeline Therapeutics, Chinook Therapeutics and Ventus Therapeutics, among many others.

Day-J Finds $2.1M Funding For Health, Wellness Coaching

Los Angeles-based Day-J, a new startup offering up health and wellness coaching from experts, said this morning that it has raised a pre-seed round of funding worth $2.1M. The funding came from Raine Ventures, Fuel Capital, and Watertower Ventures. According to the startup, it offers up its users access to a "personalized team of licensed coaches and health and wellness experts" through subscription. Day-J is led by co-founder and CEO Joe Perez.

Citadel Defense Expands Products

San Diego-based Citadel Defense, which develops systems to defend against drones, said it has launched a new set of counter drone offerings. According to the company, the expanded set of products--which is is selling under the brand name "Titan"--will offer up solutions from emerging requirements from the U.S. Government. Citadel Defense says it uses artificial intelligence and machine learning for its products to deal with identifying, tracking, and defeating drone threats.

Acorns Names Chief Investment Officer

Irvine-based investment app developer Acorns said this morning that it has appointed its first Chief Investment Officer. According to the company, it has named Seth Wunder, CFA, to the position, ahead of its expected public listing. Wunder previously was at black-and-white Capital, and also served at Contour Asset Management, and got his start at Morgan Stanley Investment Management.
