Carlsbad-based satellite communications and equipment provider Viasat said Friday that it has completed its acquisition of Rignet, a provider of high speed communications services to the oil and gas and other similar industries. The deal was worth approximately $222M in stock. Viasat said the deal will help it expand into new adjacent industries, including renewable energy, transportation, maritime, mining and other enterprise markets. Rignet will continue to be based in Houston, Texas.

Boingo Wins Deal At Rockefeller Center

Los Angeles-based Wi-Fi hotspot network operator Boingo reported this morning that it has scored a win at Rockefeller Center. According to the company, the deal at the iconic New York City location will cover 22 acres in Manhattan, offering up a new, Wi-Fi 6 network for daily visitors, business operations, and tenants. Financial details of the win were not announced.
