Skyworks Names New Board Member

Irvine-based semiconductor maker Skyworks announced a new board member this morning, saying it has added Kimberly S. Stevenson to its board of directors. Stevenson is Senior Vice President and General Manager of Data Center Products and Solutions for Lenovo, and also has served at Intel Corporation and Electronic Data Systems, plus spent more than 17 years at IBM.

San Diego-based Gossamer Bio , a biotechnology company focused on therapeutics in the autoimmune, allergy/inflammation, and immuno-oncology disease areas, said on Monday that it has raised $230M in a Series B funding round. The massive funding round was led by Hillhouse Capital, and also included a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), Invus, The Baupost Group and Polaris Partners, along with ARCH Venture Partners and Omega Funds.

March Capital Leads $12M Funding In Xage Security

Santa Monica-based venture inestor March Capital Partners is again the lead on an investment round this morning, in Silicon Valley-based Xage Security , a new startup focused on industrial internet-of-things (IoT) security. Xage, which is based in Palo Alto, said this morning that it raised $12M in a Series A funding round. The round was led by March Capital Partners, and also included GE Ventures, City Light Capital, and NexStar Partners.

Sonos Sets Estimated IPO Pricing Range

Santa Barbara-based Sonos , the developer of user-friendly, Internet-connected, whole-home audio systems, set its estimated IPO pricing range on Monday morning, the next step in bringing the company to market. According to its updated S-1 filing, Sonos is looking to sell 13,888,888 shares of its common stock at between $17.00 and $19.00 per share. Sonos has applied to list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market as SONO.

Snapchat To Shut Down P2P Payment Feature, Snapcash

Venice-based Snap is shutting down the Snapcash payment feature of Snapcash , which had offered up peer-to-peer payments on its network. The feature will be shut down on August 30th. Snapchat had launched the peer-to-peer payment service in conjunction with Square back in 2014. The payment feature proved not to be as popular as alternatives such as Venmo, and multiple companies--including Apple and Google--have also been active in the peer-to-peer payment area.

SpaceX Sends Telstar 19 Into Orbit

Hawthorne-based SpaceX successfully sent another satellite payload into space over the weekend, sending the Telstar 19 Vantage into space from Florida early Sunday morning. The Telstar 19 Vantage satellite, which was delivered into geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO), is being used to provide high throughput satellite communications on the Ku-band for Brazil, the North Atlantic, plus the Andean region.
