Drinks Picks Up $15M Funding Round

Los Angeles-based Drinks , which operates a number of subscription, direct-to-consumer wine delivery services, has raised $15M in a Series B funding round, according to the company. The funding was led by Beverly Pacific and also included Shea Ventures and others. The company was founded by Zac Brandenberg, and operates the Wine Insiders wine delivery club and the Martha Stewart Win Co.

ULA Launches Last Delta II Rocket From Vandenberg

The United Launch Alliance launched its last Delta II rocket mission on Saturday morning from Vandenberg Air Force Base, north of Los Angeles, in a launch visible to much of the Los Angeles area. Senomyx Acquired By Firmenich For $72M

San Diego-based Senomyx , a developer of artificial flavoring ingredients and sweeteners for the beverage and food market, has been acquired by Switzerland's Firmenich , in a deal worth approximately $72.5M. According to the two companies, Firmenich will acquire all of the outstanding common stock of SEnomyx for $1.50 per share in cash. The deal is an approximately 43 percent premium over the closing price of Senomyx on September 14th.
