Tinder Targets College Students With Tinder U

Los Angeles-based Tinder is targeting college students with a new feature, Tinder U , which it rolled out on Tuesday morning. According to Tinder, the new service helps connect college students with a.edu email address, who are attending four year, accredited, not-for-profit school in the U.S.--but only for traditional, face-to-face schools. According to Tinder, the new feature lets users do their usual swiping, matching, and message as usual, but limited to people who are also attending school.

The training facility for the Los Angeles Lakers , the UCLA Health Training Center , has just gone solar, according to an anouncement from The Los Angeles Lakers, LG Electronics USA and Vaha Energy. NASA Gives Nod To SpaceX Fueling Plan

NASA has given the nod to Hawthorne-based SpaceX , for its plan to fuel its rockets while astronauts are on board its Crew Dragon spacecraft. In a statement, published on Friday, NASA said it will allow SpaceX to use its "load-and-go" approach to fueling its Falcon 9 rockets even while astronauts are onboard its Dragon spacecraft. Critics of the process had cited the catastrophic failure of a Falcon 9 rocket during those refueling efforts in 2016.

Los Angeles-based Postie , the machine-learning-meets-diirect-mail startup backed by Bonfire Ventures and Crosscut Ventures, said today that it has named Zev Gollender as the company's Head of Sales. Gollender was most recently Vice President of Media Sales at Taboola, and also has served at Adiant and AOL. Postie is applying machine learning software to the direct mail market, using the techniques honed on digital acquisition channels and applying them to direct mail.

Los Angeles-based Arensis , a developer of distributed energy systems, announced that it has raised approximately $17M in debt funding from UK-based Hadrian's Wall Secured Investments Limited (HWSIL). According to Arensis, the new funding will go to fund the development of renewable energy facilities in the UK. Arensis is a developer of a microgrid product used for renewable energy projects that convert biomass into energy.
