Kairos Ventures Raises $24.6M In First Close Of New Fund

Beverly Hills-based Kairos Ventures , a venture capital investment firm which focuses on commercialization of scientific advances, has raised $24.6M in the first close of a new fund, Kairos Venture Opportunities I, L.P. , according to a regulatory filing from the firm this week. The fund is targeted at an overall capitalization of $100M, per those regulatory documents.

Long Beach-based SpinLaunch , a space launch services provider which recently relocated from Silicon Valley to Long Beach, reported on Wednesday that it has been awarded a launch prototype contract from the Department of Defense (DOD). Anaheim-based technical and consulting services provider Willdan says it is buying Carlsbad-based Onsite Energy Corporation , a provider of energy efficiency services and project implementation for the industrial market. Terms of the acquisition were not announced. According to Willdan Group, it will acquire "substantially all" of the assets of Onsite Energy, which generated approximately $20M in revenues over the last year.
