Semtech Powers Smart Campus System In China

Camarillo-based semiconductor developer Semtech has scored another design win with its LoRaWAN technology, saying today that its technology is being used by Chinsese company Shenzhen Sundray Technology Co., Ltd. (Sundray), for a new "software-defined classroom" product. Semtech said that Sundray's technology is being used to promote safer learning spaces by monitoring classroom occupancy, equipment usage, temperature monitoring, door and window locks, and air quality sensors.

SpaceX Successfully Launches GPS Satellite Into Space

Hawthorne, California-based SpaceX has successfully launched a new, GPS satellite into space for the United States Space Force on Thursday afternoon. SpaceX launched the US Space Force's GPS III Space Vehicle 04 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, in Florida, from its launchpad at Space Launch Complex 40. The launch occurred at 6:24pm EST. In addition to the launch, SpaceX also landed the first stage of the Falcon 9 used in the launch on the "Of Course I Still Love You" droneship.

Esri Rolls Out New Tool For Improving Coastal Water Quality

Redland-based GIS software giant Esri announced this week that it has rolled out a new, free and open tool it says helps countries monitor their coastal water quality. The company said its new tool is being released in partnership with the United Nationas and GEO Blue. The company says the tools can be used to help guide policy and reduce pollution from land sources.

Protomer Technologies Gets Funding For Protein Therapeutics

Pasadena-based Protomer Technologies announced this morning that it has received funding from both the JDRF T1D Fund, as well as Eli Lilly and Company, in a funding round. Size of the investment was not announced. The company said Eli Lilly and Company led the funding, with the new investment today from JDRF. Protomer said it is developing next-generation protein therapeutics that can sense molecular activators in the body.
