Precellerator Opens Up Applications For New Class

The Precellerator , the Santa Monica-based startup incubation and accelerator effort with ties to local technology law firm Stubbs, Alderton, and Markiles LLP, has opened up applications for its next class of startups, the accelerator said on Tuesday. According to the Precellerator, deadlines for applications for its next class, the 13th class, is July 15th. The new class starts on September 3rd.

Los Angeles-based Wrapal , a peer-to-peer marketplace which connected film makers with set locations, has been acquired by Toronto, Canada-based Set Scouter , according to the two companies. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. Set Scouter also operates an online, peer-to-peer location scouting marketplace. According to companies, the acquisition will help create the largest, film locations database in North America.

Venice-based social media app developer Snap said late Monday that it has named a new Chief Financial Officer and Chief People Officer, in a shuffling of its executive staff. According to Snap, it has named Derek Andersen, the company's current Vice President of Finance, to the post of Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and also named Lara Sweet, currently interim CFO, as its Chief People Officer.

Aerojet Rocketdyne Eyes Energy Storage

Canoga Park-based aerospace and defense products developer Aerojet Rocketdyne is taking aim at the energy storage market, saying today that it has tied with ZAF Energy Systems , to work on an energy storage system. According to Aerojet Rocketdyne and ZAF Energy Systems, the new energy storage product will use ZAF's nickel-zinc batteries, and Aerojet's battery management system (BMS). Financial details of the link were not announced.

Signal Sciences Adds Cloud Web Application Firewall

Alorica Names Marketing Head

Irvine-based Alorica , a provider of outsource, business process outsourcing and "customer experience" outsourcing, named Colson Hillier as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), the company said on Tuesday. Hillier will lead the company's global marketing and communications efforts, according to the company. Hillier was most recently at Verizon Wireless. Inhibrx Finds $40M For Protein Engineering Tools

San Diego-based Inhibrx , a biopharmaceuticals startup working in the area of protein engineering, has raised $40M in an investment from Viking Global Investors, the company announced this mroning. Inhibrx said it has now raised approximately $205M in total, including $135M in equity and debt and $70M in licensing and grants. Inibrx has previously raised funding from such investors as RA Capital, Lilly Asia Ventures, ArrowMark Partners, WuXi Biologics and Alexandria.
