Russian Cows To Be Fully Wired With Semtech's LoRa Technology

Somewhere in Russia, there will soon be one (or many) herds of fully wired, trackable cows--thanks to a design win by Camarillo-based Semtech , with a Russian Internet-of-Things firm called lar.tech. According to Semtech, its LoRa wireless technology has been used to create an Internet of Things (IoT) cattle monitoring solution which uses its devices and wireless radio frequency technology to provide GPS tracking and biometrics sensors for cattle, which is being rolled out to ranchers.

SpaceX Aims At Sunday For New Vandenberg Launch

Hawthorne-based SpaceX is hoping that it will be able to launch its Spaceflight SSO-A mission on Sunday, five days after it was force to scrub its original Wednesday launch date for the small satellite launch mission. According to the last update from SpaceX, it is now targeting December 2nd for launch of the SmallSat Express from Vandenberg Air Force Base. The mission will put 64 small satellites, collected together by space ride arranger Spaceflight, for over 35 customers.

Vertone In Licensing Deal With Cumulus Media

Costa Mesa-based a href="[link] , the developer of artificial intelligence software for the advertising industry led by Chad and Ryan Steelberg, said this morning that it has signed an expanded agreement with Cumulus Media, the second largest owner and operator of radio stations in the U.S. According to Veritone, it is licensing its artificial intelligence technology, to quantify the results of advertising campaigns on Cumulus Media channels. Financial impact of the deal were not announced.

Shift Media Acquired By Marlin Equity Partners

Los Angeles- and Boston-based Shift Media Holdings , a developer of software tools used for collaboration by entertainment enterprises, brands and agencies, has been acquired by Los Angeles-based private equity investment firm Marlin Equity Partners. Financial details of the majority recapitalization and growth investment were not announced. SHIFT's products are used for collaboration on creative projects, and also include such features as forensic watermarks and other digital asset management.

Culver City Selects Willdan For 100 Percent Renewable Microgrid Assessment

Culver City is looking to go 100 percent renewable at two of its municipal sites, according to technical and professional consulting firm Willdan Group. According to Willdan, it has been selected to conduct a microgrid deployment feasibility assessment at two Culver City municipal sites, which would be a 100 percent renewable power microgrid for the city. Financial impact of the deal were not announced.

TaskUs Opens Five New Offices Globally

Santa Monica-based business process outsourcing provider TaskUs said this morning that it has added five new offices, and over 2,000 full-time employees, as part of a major global expansion effort. According to TaskUs, it added five offices spanning the U.S., Philippines, Taiwan, and Mexico.

AT&T is looking to possibly sell its 10 percent stake in Los Angeles-based television streaming service Hulu , as part of its plan on digesting Time Warner. According to At&T CFO John Stephens, the company may sell of its 10 percent stake in Hulu as part of a larger sale of "non-core" assets after it paid $85.4 billion for Time Warner. AT&T now owns Warner Bros., CNN, HBO, and other cable channels as a result of its buy of Time Warner.
