Elon Musk , the CEO and founder of Los Angeles-based SpaceX , has a new company, Neuralink , which is looking to create a brain-computer interface--and now has $26.96M in the bank. According to a regulatory filing, Neuralink has raised $26.96 million from 12 investors. Elon Musk, in a Tweet, said that the startup is not raising additional money, despite indications otherwise in the firm's regulatory filings.

Irvine-based storage products maker Western Digital , said on Monday that it has acquired Redwood City, California-based Upthere. Upthere is a provider of cloud-based photo, music, video, and document storage services, aimed at the consumer market. Financial details of the acquisition wer enot announced. Upthere's storage platform, which works on iPhone, iPad, Android, macOS, and Windows, will become part of Western Digital's Client Solutions business.

Los Angeles-based private equity investor Levine Leichtman Capital Partners has acquired x-ray food safety inspection services provider FlexXray , the companies said this morning. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. FlexXray is based in Arlington, Texas, and was founded in 2001. Levine Leichtman said it made the acquisition of its LLCP Lower Middle Market Fund.
