German Grocer Aldi Partners with Instacart to Offer Delivery in L.A.

The stakes of the grocery delivery wars have just been raised. German discount grocer Aldi Inc. announced Monday that it plans to debut a grocery delivery service through Instacart in Los Angeles, Dallas and Atlanta later this month. Aldi, which mainly sells products with its own label, has almost 1,700 stores in 35 states, according to a press release.

Materia Faces Legal Challenge From German Company

Pasadena-based material science technology developer Materia appears to be facing some legal challenges in court, according to Law360. The report says that a German industrial conglomerate, Evonik Degussa GmbH , says it received a $1.5M patent infringement verdict over a chemical bond component Materia makes in January, and claims that Materia is still offering those infringing products for sale on its website.
