Hyundai taps EV startup Canoo to develop electric vehicles

Hyundai Motor Group said it will jointly develop an electric vehicle platform with Los Angeles-based startup Canoo, the latest startup tapped by the automaker as part of an $87 billion push to invest in electrification and other future technologies.

Skyworks Backs New Wi-Fi 6E Standard

Irvine-based analog semiconductor developer Skyworks Solutions says it will support the new, Wi-Fi 6 standard, the new next generation wireless technology being established by the Wi-Fi Alliance. According to Skyworks, it is working with the Wi-Fi Alliance to develop its own Wi-Fi 6E products. Those new products operate in the 5.925 to 7.125 GHz frequency range, and are in addition to the current use of 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands used for Wi-Fi today.

Canoo Inks Deal With Hyundai For Joint EV

Los Angeles-based electric vehicle developer Canoo scored a major win on Tuesday, when Hyundai Motor Group said it will co-develop a new, electric vehicle based on Canoo's platform. Financial terms of the deal were not announced, however, the two said that Hyundai and its affiliate, Kia, will use Canoo's platform for both cars and commercial fleets. Canoo has said it plans to start selling its electric vehicles in 2021, via a subscription-only model.

Monrovia, California-based AeroVironment , which develops unmanned aerial vehicles, said late Monday that it has received a $8.5M military sales contract from an un-named, U.S. According to AeroVironment, the $8,584,734 firm-fixed-price U.S. Department of Defense Foreign Military Sales contract will go towards purchase of its Puma 3 AE unmanned aircraft systems, training, and support to an allied nation. The company said those unmanned aircraft are expected to be delivered in June of 2020.
