SPINN Snag $20M For Coffee Device

A new, Los Angeles-based startup, SPINN, developing a fully automated, mobile- or voice-controlled coffee maker which grinds beans, heats water, and brews coffee for users, said on Monday that it has raised $20M in a funding round. The funding was led by Spark Capital, and also included Amazon's Alexa Fund, Bar 9 Ventures and others. The startup, led by CEO Roderic de Rode, said its hardware uses centrifugal force to make its own coffee, in addition to grinding and its other features.

Rivian Pulls In Another $2.5 Billion

Electric car maker Rivian, which has significant operations in Orange County, has raised another $2.5 billion in funding, the company said on Friday. The funding brings the company's total raised to an astounding $10.5 billion. The new funding came from Amazon's Climate Pledge Fund, D1 Capital Partners, Ford Motor and T. Rowe Price Associates Inc., along with Third Point, Fidelity Management and Research Company, Dragoneer Investment Group and Coatue.
