San Diego-based workplace productivity software developer ClickUp reported this morning that it has been selected by the San Diego Padres, to power the team's IT operations. Financial details of the win were not announced. ClickUp is led by founder and CEO Zeb Evans. ClickUp said that the Padres will use its platform to organize, manage and track all team tasks, goals, docs, communications and more.

Los Angeles-based XPRIZE, which organizes and runs competitions which spur teams to compete to solve major challenges to humanity, says it has selected 38 teams for the $10M ANA Avatar XPRIZE competition. The group said those teams came from 16 countries. The Avatar XPRIZE is aimed at spurring the development of an "avatar system" which will allow humans to explore remote locations in real time.

Los Angeles-based battery developer Romeo Power reports that it has scored a win with PACCAR, a manufacturer of high-quality light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks under the Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF nameplates. According to Romeo Power, it has signed a deal to battery packs, modules and battery management systems (BMS) for PACCAR's battery electric vehicles (BEVs).

Los Angeles-based Carrot Group, which develops an e-sports based product to engage students in learning science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) skills, says it is in a collaboration with Lenovo to expand adoption of its product in school districts. According to Carrot Group, the two will expand its reach to more school districts nationwide.
