JenaValve Finds $50M Funding

Irvine-based JenaValve Technology , which develops aortic valve replacements, said last week that it has raised $50M in a financing round. The funding was led by Bain Capital Life Sciences, and also included existing investors Andera Partners, Gimv, Legend Capital, NeoMed Management, RMM, Valiance Life Sciences and VI Partners. As part of the funding, Bain Capital's Andrew Hack, MD, Ph.D., has joined the company's board of directors.

SpaceX Manned Launch Mission As Early As May, Say Reports

Hawthorne-based SpaceX may be launching astronauts into space on the Crew Dragon spacecraft as early as May, according to reports, after meeting all of the milestones required to fly actual astronauts on its spacecraft. The first mission reportedly could be as early as May 7th, on the SpaceX Demo-2 launch. SpaceX has not yet publicly detailed any launch plans.

Eli Lilly, Roche Drugs Fail to Move Needle in Genetically Driven Alzheimer’s

Two experimental drugs from Eli Lilly and Roche have failed a clinical trial testing them as treatments for a form of Alzheimer’s disease caused by certain genetic mutations, the companies reported Monday. The study, sponsored by Washington University, tested the drugs in patients who have an early onset, inherited form of Alzheimer’s called autosomal dominant.

Los Angeles-based programmatic advertising provider Causal IQ said last week that it is expanding into Las Vegas, as part of an expansion to serve the casino-entertainment market. The company said the move will help it serve the tourism and gaming industry. Causal IQ is led by CEO Farshad Fardad. The company says it has offices in Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Las Vegas, New York, San Francisco, Washington D.C. and Westlake Village, California.

Los Angeles-based Emburse , the developer of expense management and accounts payable software, has launched a new product, which lets companies issue corporate cards to its employees and others, to help manage expenses. The company said its new product, Emburse Cards for Abacus, provides both virtual and physical corporate cards, which allow organizations to enforce travel and expense policies as a transaction occurs.
